Nepal Carpet Export Rises By Almost 20% In First Half Of Fiscal Year 2011
Export of hand knotted Nepalese rugs has gone up by 16.5% in the first half of 2011 compared to last fiscal year during the same period according to an article reported by Kantipur Daily. A total of 423,381 square meters of rugs worth Rs 2.37 billion has been exported to countries in Europe, USA, Canada, and Australia. The growth has been attributed to increase in demand in these countries and decrease in production from other countries like Turkey and Iran.
